Two birds, one stone

November 20, 2019

For the past couple of months I've been working hard to make two short films I wrote and co-wrote come to life. One of them is now in the editing oven, the other one is half shot. All of them were made with friends. Even though this has not been an easy ride, I am having so much fun and I am so profoundly grateful to all my friends and people who have been jumping in and playing along and helping! When I first started this process, I wanted to create a sense of community, which I believe I have and my heart is really filled with joy! More updates on the movies soon, I hope :-)

It's Voice Over month! Well...for me it is :-)

September 30, 2019

September has been one of those months that I just booked it! I spent many months not booking any VO work and all of a sudden I booked two narrations in a row. One of them was very special because I got to record three of the Languages I speak: Portuguese, Spanish and German! I was super happy and enjoyed the feeling while it lasted, cause it's probably never happening again. Or maybe all those years attending German School and learning German will pay off :-) Literally.

Do not smoke, people!

August 09, 2019

I'm so excited to have shot this anti-smoking campaign for the NYC Health Department: I don't smoke, never have and am a full supporter of the initiative! The art department created this incredible set that made us feel as if we were in a real hospital room. It'll probably take a few months before post does all their magic and releases it into the world.

Tickets, tickets, tickets! It's LORDES 3.0 coming to New Ohio Theatre in NYC

July 31, 2019

My evenings and weekends have been filled with rehearsals for the new show I'm working on. LORDES is being presented at the New Ohio ICE FACTORY Festival 2019 at the end of the month. It's the third time I am working on this show (or a version of it) and I love it!

There are four shows coming up: July 31- Aug 3 (Wed - Sat) and all shows will be at 7 PM. Tickets are available here (It's $20 for most of us and $16 for students with ID, OR you can use my promo code LORDES15 to get $15 tickets - but you have to use the code until Saturday, the 27th)

The address of the theater is:

New Ohio Theatre

154 Christopher Street

New York, NY 10014

If you like to make more informed decisions and don't want to come just because I'm in it, I totally get it ;-)

Here is a synopsis of the show: Writer, activist, Black, lesbian, poet, warrior. With the strength of dozens of women, Audre Lorde writes her last poem before illness stills her pen. This production is built with and performed by an ensemble of women who celebrate Audre Lorde's legacy and who are committed to building the future embodied by Lorde's visceral poetry and tireless activism. LORDES asks the question: How do we feed ourselves in a world where we are meant to starve?

For those of you who like to read programs like I do, here is a sneak peak of the team involved:

Baby Girl

October 11, 2017

I'm so happy to announce I have just been cast in Baby Girl, an NYU Thesis short written and directed by Kathryn Huyghue. The film follows the struggles of a teenage prostitute and I'll be playing a detective who tries to help her out. Kathryn felt inspired by Rachel Lloyd, after reading her book "Girls like us" and decided to write this film. Can't wait to start shooting!!

Do you have Halloween plans?

October 03, 2017

Consider watching Horror at the Cecil Hotel on Discovery ID. The Mini Series follows detectives solving mysterious crimes that happened at the same spooky place: The Cecil Hotel. I'm playing Pauline Otten, a suicidal woman who jumps off the window and ends up killing an innocent man.

Trick or treat?

October 01, 2017

It's Halloween season and we have plenty to celebrate! Waiting Room, the short film written and directed by Charles J. Ouda that we shot a few months ago, has been accepted at several Festivals and won a few awards! Just to name a few of them: Ita Korenzecher was awarded the best lead actress prize at Gold Movie Awards, Charles was awarded the Gold Award for best director by NYC Indie Film Awards, and Alex Siesse was awarded the Best Score at the LA Shorts Awards. In addition to those, the film was selected at The Best Shorts Competition, got a Diamond Award for Best Short at NYC Indie Film Awards and has just been selected at Cardiff Film Festival!

At the edge of nothing with Clarice

March 24, 2017

I'm so happy to work with Clarice Lispector's words one more time, especially with such a dear and brilliant director like Dara Malina. We worked together two years ago in "The Hour of the Star", an adaptation to the stage of the Brazilian novela. This Friday, Dara is directing "Edge of Nothing" a piece to close "The Clarice Factor: aesthetics, gender & diaspora in Brazil", a week of discussions on the author to be held at Casa Hispanica. The performance includes a series of images referencing the author's work including pieces like "The Passion according to GH" and the short story "Love" and is going to be performed by myself and the fabulous actor Jake Lesser.

Time for a little fur...ooops! I meant fun!!!

March 20, 2017

This week I had the pleasure to be part of this wonderful Italian-American family! The director Alicia Krupskaya wrote and directed the short "Sunnyside Queens", based on amazing people and events from her life. "Sunnyside Queens" follows a day in the life of this family, in which women from three different generations deal with their differences, eccentric personalities and, ultimately, love. I play Ariana, a twenty-something year old that is forced to face that life might be more precious than what's going on with her phone...
